This Privacy Policy describes how Knight Law Group, LLP, doing business as Student Loan Angel and operating www.studentloanangel.com (the “Website”), handles personal information in its public educational tools, support paths, secure borrower portal, initial Knight Law Group service path, and any separately offered future marketplace.

1. Information We Collect

Public tools may collect your answers, generated result, contact details, preferred language, consent choices, and support message. The secure portal may collect account and authentication identifiers; case profile and status; questionnaire answers; messages; reminders; uploaded-document metadata and files; audit and security events; AI questions and generated responses; and referral, consent, revocation, and separate-engagement status.

Do not submit Social Security numbers, FSA ID credentials, passwords, payment-card or bank-account data, medical records, or other information the screen does not request.

2. Storage and Vendors

Portal records are stored in the Website's PostgreSQL database. Uploaded documents are stored in private object storage; the database stores their paths and metadata rather than the file bytes. Current vendor categories include Clerk for authentication, Replit-hosted application and database infrastructure, private object-storage infrastructure, OpenAI through Replit's managed AI service for the limited AI feature described below, and Resend for operational email. Public content and lead paths may also use the content-management and customer-record systems identified in those paths.

Vendors process information only to provide their contracted function, subject to their own terms and the Website's configuration. Vendor and subprocessors remain under counsel and operational review and may change as the service changes.

3. How We Use Portal Information

We use portal information to authenticate users, maintain the case workspace, respond to messages, request and review information, generate preliminary educational guidance, prevent abuse, keep an audit history, send operational notices, and administer a borrower-authorized referral. Portal case status is an educational and administrative workflow; it is not a representation status.

4. AI Use

The AI assistant receives the question you type and limited case context needed to produce preliminary educational guidance. AI output is not a legal, tax, financial, eligibility, or representation decision and requires human review. Original uploaded documents are not sent to AI. A minimized working copy with sensitive information obscured may be prepared only after separate document-specific consent, and any extracted content remains subject to human confirmation.

5. Access and Sharing

Portal access is limited to the borrower, assigned case personnel, administrators with an operational need, and service providers supporting the portal. Internal notes and another participant's internal account identifier are not shown to borrowers.

Authorized Knight Law Group personnel and service providers may review information for the evaluation, support, security, and service purposes disclosed when it is submitted. A submission does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship or authorize a future referral to an independent attorney. Student Loan Angel does not sell sensitive portal, case, message, or document information and does not provide it to advertising or lead-generation partners. Any future sharing with an independent attorney requires a separate affirmative authorization naming that attorney, stating the purpose, and identifying the exact information and documents authorized. Without that authorization, the referral sharing is blocked. A separate written engagement agreement is required for representation.

Advertising partners may receive only the website or device identifiers and browsing activity disclosed in this Policy. Depending on applicable law, that limited disclosure may constitute a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Student Loan Angel will provide required consent and opt-out controls. Use Your Privacy Choices to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Before these advertising disclosures are enabled in a jurisdiction, qualified counsel must review the applicable sale, sharing, consent, and opt-out requirements.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law or legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and service integrity.

6. Retention and Deletion

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or processed, considering the information's type and sensitivity, operational needs, applicable legal duties, security and fraud risks, disputes, and legal claims. Document records support soft deletion and controlled physical purge. Deletion remains subject to valid legal holds and retention duties, and no promise of immediate or universal deletion is made.

7. Access, Correction, and Privacy Requests

Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, or delete certain personal information, obtain information about processing or sharing, or appeal a decision. We may verify your identity and may retain or withhold information where law permits or requires. To revoke an active referral consent, use the referral control in the portal; revocation stops future sharing under that consent but does not retrieve information already lawfully shared or terminate a separate professional agreement.

8. Security, Minors, and Third-Party Sites

We use measures designed to support secure delivery and processing, but no transmission or storage method is completely secure. The Website is intended only for persons age 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Third-party sites and independent attorneys have their own privacy notices and practices.

9. Changes and Version History

We may revise this Policy as the service changes. A revised version will be posted with a new version, effective date, and last-updated date. A new referral consent uses the statement version shown in the referral screen rather than silently applying later text.
